Monday: Easy Run

It was a faster run today than I thought I would have. I took it out another 4 miles and was happy to run the final two miles just over 7 minutes per mile. The rest of this week is looking pretty good for me not to run at all. Thinking of getting a couple of days rest before a long run next Saturday.

My Latest 4 Mile Route

Good run today. Finally got some rest from Friday night and was able to get out during the heat of the day or a nice slow run. Footpod had me running a little over 4 miles. Need to make sure it is calibrated correctly...

Saturday: unexpected rest day

Well, last night was a bit overdone and the Guinness was flowing. Needless to say we had a few too many and my Saturday long run was put off until... well maybe next week. Anyway, things are still a bit blurry and must get some rest.

I will put in about 4 miles tomorrow to catch up with some sleep today.

Cheers.

Thursday: Rest Day

Today is our 3 year anniversary. I'm going to take today and tomorrow off, and possibly Saturday depending on how many days we celebrate!!!

Wed: Easy Run

Still keeping up with my runs. My form is getting better on the uphills and I am starting to control my downhill stride to make sure I keep my form and strength throughout. I have noticed there is a lot of pounding involved on those downhills so the control factor is probably a good thing!

Today's run was pretty standard issue. I did my 3.4 mile out and back route and felt good throughout the entire run. However, at the end of the run I noticed a pain in my chest which I would have normally shrugged off, but it didn't leave for about 30 minutes after my run. That was a little startlesome but once it passed, it was forgotten. I will probably take off tomorrow just to give my self a break... plus it is our 3 year anniversary so I am excited about having a huge meal and some wine with Jordan.

Tuesday: A Recovery Run?

So, the plan was to take it easy during tonight's run. A few storms rolled in during the afternoon and I was looking forward to getting a couple of strides in while the heavens were coming down. Well, by the time I got off work, took off the suit, and laced up the shoes, the weather cleared up and the only water I felt was when I happened upon the occasional puddle...

I didn't run too hard, keeping my pace just below 8 minutes per mile. I had a couple of down hill runs where my pace picked up to just under 6:15 per mile, or so says the footpod. I love that thing!

Tomorrow... maybe a little more speed... or maybe not... Taking it day by day.

Monday: Easy Run... Fast

Felt good on the run today. It was something I haven't felt in a while so I thought I would pick up the pace. My first mile was just over 7 minutes and before I knew it I was at the u-turn of the route.

My legs felt strong but I felt a little tightness in the back left hamstring so I backed down towards the end of the route. The hills were very welcoming tonight. Tomorrow the plan will be to keep a slower pace with good form.

Sun-Day of rest

I'm enjoying taking today off from running. Yesterday was a good run and I feel like I have a ton of strength and speed left in my legs today but I always end up over working my legs to the point that my training gets side tracked by some unwanted couch time.

Today we went out and took some time to explore some new neighborhoods. Might be moving soon, but I would hate to leave such an easy access location to my running routes!

Oh well... plenty of places to run in this town.

The long run is relative to who you ask...

As I get back into running, it is hard not to jump back in where I left off. So, the long run is not so long... but it feels long because I haven't done one in so long!

7 Miles is a good place to start. I imagine I'll be up to 10 or 11 in the next few weeks. I think that is all I will need since I'm focusing more on the shorter distances these days.

Today's run felt good. Felt a little tweak in the knee that was due to nothing more than my mind playing tricks on me coupled with the heat of the day. It was a solid run finished up with a couple of hills.

I'm happy with where my run form is right now. I am confident I will start to see some bigger gains over the next few weeks. Until then... I think I'll rest tomorrow instead of pushing it. Don't want to screw up a good thing!

Friday's are for Resting

Great week of running means a little reward in the form of rest. Went out to eat with Jordan. She twisted my arm to have a couple of beers. I knew I had a 7 miler in the morning but I gave in. Tomorrow, I will save my long run for the afternoon. maybe get some hot weather training in for good measure.

Thursday: 5 In a row!!!

It is hard to believe that I have kept up with 5 runs, much less, 5 runs in a row. Feeling good about the future of my training plan, and adding more interesting routes to the mix. However, today I will follow the same run path as I have for the past 4 days. I might give this a shot next week too. Maybe change up the route and stick to it for the week.

Wednesday: Easy Run

Took another trip out to the old reliable running route today. Once again, no brain power required to figure out where to run. Still enjoying the wild life and awesome weather we are having. The heat here is much different that that of Houston's Heat and Humidity.

Easy run on the route. My legs felt good. Slight pain in the knee that went away after a couple of minutes. I will be sure to keep watch on this later on down the road.

Tuesday: Same Route Different Day

If I'm able to do anything, it is be repetitive. Today I ran the same route as I had the previous two days of running. I make enough decisions throughout the day at my job for myself and the folks I manage that taking the guess work out of running has been a total blessing.

The run felt good. Again, I took my time and tried to feel the form coming back. I hit a sub 7 minute mile on the way home which was fun. I could feel my legs getting a little tied up by the speed, but I pushed through and made sure to cool done on the back end of the run. Good stuff.

Monday is for Easy Runs

Day 2 of my new training goal of warming up, running strong, cooling down, stretching and repeating is looking good. I'm actually pumped about getting back on the trail. I'm still using the new route application by Google/Sanoodi. Have a look: www.sanoodi.com

My run felt good. I have been taking my run through a neighborhood before hitting the trail in the woods. I just found out the route loses almost 380 feet which isn't such a bad thing if I didn't need to run back up what was lost.

Good run. Will keep this up until I get bored and need a new route. Right now, the deer, rabbits, and babbling brook are quite attractive.

Back in Action... Again...

So, work has settled, the daily routine is now, well, a routine... and I've decided to get back into the running scene. I have found a couple of new sites I will try tracking my routes with and will update with anything I find that works.

Today, I'm off on my quick 3.8 mile route that adds about .4 miles of cool down. This is going to be important as I get back into my form.

New Plan:
Warm Up, Run Hard, Cool Down, Stretch... Repeat.

Distance: 3.8
Route: Out and Back with a Twist

  Sunday run in the rain.
