More Meebo - Less Running

I have gotten good response from the Meebo message board in the upper right portion of my blog. It has been a good addition to speak with anyone who calls on the TokBox without audio or video feed coming from their end. I'll report back on this if I come up with anything else.

Any runners out there looking to chat about training, racing, and all things running... feel free to contact me via Meebo or Tokbox. Leave a message.

Rest Day - More on TokBox

I am still working on updating this site more than I am working on my run training. My priorities have definitely been side tracked recently so working on my blog more than running actually makes sense in a strange twisted way.

I have been testing the TokBox on my site and it works very well. When using Internet Explorer (and I would assume other similar browsers) and the tabbed web pages, it is easy to move from one site to another without losing the audio and video feed.

Installing the video interface on your site is easy if you can copy and paste the code into your template in the right place without it crashing. I had to work on the HTML a bit to get it to work, but it is looking good now without any problems. I had to remove the div tags from the code because it kept making my pages crash. So, I have opted to put in a TokBox link on my site instead.

Another night off

There have been a ton of these nights in the past. Not much on running tonight after work. I started feeling like hell at work today and finally shook whatever it was I had so I decided to lay low and eat some dinner then hop into bed early.

Time to walk the dog...

No Running Tonight

I took tonight off, big shocker, to spend some time at home with J. Some wine and Chicken Parm made for a nice night!

Short Run

I ran 1/4 mile up to the gym tonight, but the door was locked and I ran home in the cold. So, .5 miles under my belt. It was pretty easy.

Finally a few miles!

Run SummaryTime: 9:30pm
Distance: 4.13
Pace: 7:30/mile

I put a few miles down today in an effort to build some momentum going into December. It was a good run and my legs felt pretty strong. I did feel a little tingle in my right knee, but I think it was just the 2 month cobwebs coming free. I plan on doing the same thing tomorrow night to start this running habit back up.

Thanksgiving Running Renewal

The past two months have been anything but productive concerning my training. Work, weather, and a general sense of procrastination have sidelined my desire to get back into a normal weekly routine of good foundation miles. It only took about 2 lbs of turkey and dressing on Thursday along with about 1 gallon of Gumbo on Friday to snap me back into reality.

Thankfully, due to Thanksgiving, I'm thinking a bit more clearly now and realize I need to turn off the TV, get off the couch, lace up my shoes, and head for the trail.

So, the new plan is to get back into running form before the new year to dedicate a full 12 months to running. The goal will be to make this running way of life stick, so I not only improve my race times but I also enjoy myself and maintain a lifestyle focused on health and activity... not just college football and beer.

2008 Goals - Start in December

This Saturday past as just another weekend long run traded for a few extra hours sleep. This has become an epidemic and running is something of a second thought than second nature. So, I'm dedicated to turning this lack of motivation into revamping my blog into something that I can use next year for tracking my training, racing, and keeping up with friends along the way.

A few of the upcoming changes will be a video phone for me to speak with my friends and family, as well as an online Instant Messanger widget for real time chat with anyone on my site. I hope to gather and share new tips on running, racing, motivation, and good health.

I must get back into running and if it means sitting in front of my computer for hours until a small spark of motivation outshines my monitor... I'm in...

Running Down

Today LSU lost and I did not run. Two really awful things to happen in one day. Well, at least today was a rest day on the schedule I don't follow. Okay, so one bad thing happened today. LSU lost.

Thanksgiving

Today was another day for not following my training plan. Instead, I cooked a turkey, made some gravy, and put down enough groceries to feed a small village. If eating were a sport, I could give that guy who eats all those hot dogs at Coney Island nice run.

No Run Thanksgiving Eve

There are a few great races going on around Atlanta during Thanksgiving from Turkey Trots to Marathons. This is the time of year I love most because the weather is cold and the runs are long. However, unlike previous years I will be sitting in the house watching a turkey bake and gravy thicken.

Sounds like fun, I know, and I'm sure I will read this some time next year when I look back at my lack of motivation wondering where it came from. There must be motivation looming out there. I hope to find it soon because the new year is coming around and another few months without running will drive me mad.

Why Run?

There have been a ton of questions these days as to why I run so much. My running has been anything but consistent. My answer is usually based on what I should be doing, or what I think I should be doing, I'm not really sure at this point.

I'm pretty sure running changes the way I feel and not running makes me feel, well, not the way I do when I run. So, why run? To feel the way you feel when you run because when you don't, you don't feel the way you feel when you run. And that sucks.

5 Runs in a Week

It has been a long time since I have put in 5 runs in one week. Those weeks I am usually up early, asleep early, and very active throughout the day. I am planning to get back there. I really am. There have been subtle set backs like some strange soreness in my knees, but I am thinking now that it is more psychological than anything. Must break this cycle.

Running Thoughts

There have been days when running is the only thing on my mind. Other days, it is maybe the second or third thing on my mind, but it is still there. The problem is that when it is not the first thing on my mind, I don't run.

However, even when it is the first thing on my mind the lack of motivation keeps me from lacing up my shoes. This lack of motivation thing sucks. I need some badly.
